Dragon Shiryu Blinds Himself! // Toei Animation (1987)

When fighting against Silver Saint Perseus Algol, Shiryu lost the use of his left arm because he was trying really hard to avoid the effects of the Medusa Shield worn by his opponet, to concentrate in the fight properly (!) he blinded himself so he could defeat Perseus without having to worry about the Shield!
